Wall coverings and finishes can add just the right dramatic effect and texture to a space.  Here are some options to consider.
Stencils can give a fab look to a space and can even resemble wallpaper.  With a little patience a stenciled wall can be just the thing your room needs.

Painting wall designs are popular and allows you the freedom to stretch yourself creatively.  If painting directly on your wall makes you uncomfortable, try painting on canvas, wood or paper (for the greatest impact, go for large scale)

Texturizing walls
This technique is a great way to add visual interest and dimension, but also to cover up walls with imperfections.  Some popular techniques are faux finishes that create the look of leather, marble, travertine, plaster
and more.

Fabric on walls
Covering your walls or an accent wall with fabric can make a space feel ultra-luxurious.  It’s great for renters since it involves no damage to the walls.   And you can easily do it yourself!  This is an example of a bathroom that was featured over at bhg.com
