Decorating from A-Z (Z is for Zen)
We made it to Z!!! This last post concludes our series on decorating from A-Z.
Z is for ZEN ,which means meditation in Japanese, so it’s no surprise that the Zen way of designing turns your home into a place of serenity.
When designing with the Zen concept, here a a few tips to keep in mind:
Less is more. -Use furniture pieces that are low and have clean lines for a more open airy feeling.
Bring in elements of nature like smooth rocks, bamboo plants, and sounds of water.
A fireplace or collection of candles will introduce a fire element which adds warmth and sets a relaxing mood.
Neutral walls are best, softer colors found in nature are more soothing. Too much color or bling would be over the top for this relaxing motif.
Choose airy billowy window treatments.
Minimal and elegant sums up the Zen style. Your retreat from the everyday stresses of today.
Here are a few of my favorite designs, I hope they inspire you to create a room with your personal stamp.
The look is minimal in furnishings but high on style. The appointments of natural wool elements and neutral tones makes the space feel harmonious and balanced. The throw adds just the right touch of color and texture.
The typical Zen features include the recessed lighting, neutral color palette and natural wood elements. The room feels harmonious with it’s clean lines and well placed furniture arrangement.
While this isn’t a typical neutral palette, this space exudes a Zen like feeling. The space is very relaxing and has an open and airy vibe.
