At times I can really appreciate the minimalist point of view. I like an open floor plan which gives a room the opportunity to breathe. I love the neutral colors that are often found in this design style and I also love clean lines. Here are a few examples of the Minimalist style.
While this room is beautiful, it would be completely impractical for me. I couldn’t enjoy this space for fear that I would get it dirty. I couldn’t dive onto the bed, lounge on it with a good book, or even watch Tv in the room. I would spend more time cleaning it than enjoying it. This is why function is just as important as style.
I would feel perfectly comfortable relaxing in this space, but again as far as function goes, where would I place my magazines, and bedside books? Does it seem cold and uninviting to you? This may be a little too minimal.
This is what I call minimal, but with personality and an air of sophistication. The artistic glazed walls, aged wood floors and chandelier give this room a soul. I love that it is gorgeous and functional.
The above vases and art are a great way to make a statement in a minimally styled space without being too distracting.
Do you agree? Is the minimalist style for you? Head on over to inexpensivechic.com (my daughter’s blog) to get her take on the minimalist style in fashion.Inspiring Creativity,
