5 Festive Centerpieces
Since the holiday season is here take a look at these awesome ideas by Marissa for your holiday table.
I have always thought that centerpieces can really make an entire room come together and look “complete.” Centerpieces are something that can be used all year round, but there just seems to be no better or more fun time for centerpieces than during the holidays. I have five festive and fun centerpieces to make your holiday “complete.”
1. The Glass Bowl
Use any shaped glass bowl and fill it to match the holiday or season! For fall, some items that can be used are pinecones, small pumpkins, artificial leaves, or berries. You can choose to use just one, or you can use multiple different items. Below I have shown both. I love how simplistic the pinecones look in the first image. The second image really encompasses all of autumn in one centerpiece.
2. Who Says Ornaments are Only for Trees?
Ornaments make great centerpieces, and there are so many different ways they can do so. Placing them in a bowl is one easy and eye-catching method. One of my favorites is placing ornaments in pine needles and organizing them around a candle, like in the bottom image.
3. Potpourri Does More Than Smell Good
Potpourri makes a great centerpiece, or even just a great accent to any room! The photo on the top is one my mom made that looks great as a centerpiece for a coffee table. She bought the potpourri in a variety mix from Target, but you can find similar products from most craft stores as well. Using a variety of sizes adds interest and catches the eye. Make sure you layer the different shapes and colors to make a design that is pleasing to look at. Mix the potpourri with pinecones like in the photo on the bottom for a more naturalistic look. Potpourri is an easy, inexpensive way to add that “extra touch” to any room all year round.
4. Wreaths Are Not Just For Doors
Use a wreath as a centerpiece! All you have to do is lay it down and decide what you want to place in the middle. I really like the idea of a small Christmas tree, like in the image below. You could also put a candle or a cylinder shaped vase decorated with any of the methods I described earlier. You could even put a candle in the vase! Be creative… the possibilities are endless!
5. Back to Basics
Simply carve a pumpkin and use it as a simple and casual fall centerpiece. You even get an extra bonus for yourself… you can eat the pumpkin seeds!
Pumpkin cutting tip: Use a cookie cutter to outline the shape you want, then use a rubber mallet to gently tap the cookie cutter into the pumpkin. It will not cut all the way, but it will give you a good and neat start.
Most importantly, don’t forget that when working with centerpieces you must be able to see under, over, or through! Unless, of course, you’re just trying to hide that one relative you just cannot stand…
