*The Added Jolt (coffee)– by Imani

Over these past couple of weeks I have been hidden behind mountains of books and notes in hopes of absorbing enough information to do well on Midterms. Although the books and notes changed throughout the weeks, one fixture remained the same.

The Coffee Cup. Inside the simple cardboard cup was the key to my midterm success. This bitter yet sweet taste of a Latte was always enough to give me enough energy to power through long study sessions. The realization of this got me thinking. What rooms in the home wake me up?  Which are the ones the instantly give people a little jolt of energy to power through the day? Therefore I sought out pictures to do just that.

Inspiration for your own home can be drawn not merely from the color of the wall, but also from the accessories used around the room.

I am particularly fond of all the accent pieces in the Autumn room below. How about you. What are your thoughts? Too much or just enough?

The yellow in this home office has enough energy to help you power through the day

While the color green often gives a space a soothing quality, this room boasts an inviting and exuberant space.

The pink wall just wakes you up without being too overwhelming.

Ricci’s comment:

Like Imani, I enjoy coffee, and often feel like I need it just to jump start my day.  My favorite way to enjoy it is when I’m relaxing with girlfriends, or sipping it while catching up on a good read.  Occasionally, my husband and I enjoy a cup together, but most times he’d rather drink motor oil.  So I find myself enjoying a cup while stealing a quiet moment alone.

It just happens that one of my favorite colors to use for warm and inviting spaces is actually called Latte’.  It’s a color from the Sherwin Williams family of paints.  A beautiful , warm neutral that acts as a wonderful background color. If you desire a warm palette, it can be the perfect color to showcase your home accents and not compete with them.  It looks like this.
