Exposed brick immediately brings character into a room. It’s unexpected and can add a modern or rustic charm. Whether you have an exposed brick wall in your home or not, these pictures can serve as inspiration. Brick walls are tricky to design around because of the texture and color. Here are 6 tips on how to incorporate an exposed brick wall into your design.

1. Soften the look

Add softness to the rough texture of brick. This can be accomplished through clean, light fabrics. If you want to stray away from the industrial theme, add feminine accents like the picture below.

2. Create a focal point

Don’t assume that brick walls are like a blank canvas. The color and texture of brick make it a strong focal piece already. If you are going to add something to your wall, stick with a simple piece instead of adding too much. Various artwork and picture frames will get lost on a brick wall. Choose a standout piece of artwork that will pop.

5. Color

Brick walls come in varying colors and you can even paint over the brick if you are unhappy with the color. White brick is the easiest to decorate with because it’s similar to having basic white walls. Red brick is the trickiest to incorporate color. You can keep it neutral with beiges or whites or be daring by adding different colors. Incorporate cool colors with brights and your brick wall will still be the main attraction.

I adore these designs. They are just what I’m looking for.I actually moved into an apartment that has bricks painted on the wall as a design motif. They’re not real bricks, but I don’t want to paint over them, and I think that I can use these ideas to highlight the design and make everything come together.

Thanks for being such an inspiration. My partner will appreciate it too.
