All Mixed Up: Mixing Different Types of Furniture
You don’t have to succumb to buying a matched dining room or living room set for your home. Break out of the box and mix and match your furniture. This will allow you to incorporate flea market finds or passed down furniture from family members. It also makes a room much more interesting and can allow for a great conversation. People will be wanting to know where you purchased each separate piece. Here are a few ways you can start mixing up the furniture in your home, starting now!
My favorite way to mix and match furniture is through a dining room table and chairs. There are many unique dining room tables, such as a table made from an old door. Some people find great tables at flea markets but then hesitate to buy because there are no matching chairs. The picture above shows you that a room can still look put together and clean without every piece matching.
Adding a different coffee table to your living space is the easiest way to shake things up. Coffee tables aren’t as big of an investment as buying a dining room table and different chairs. Use your creativity! There are endless amounts of ways to create and implement a coffee table into the home.
Remember how I was talking about flea market finds? Here’s the perfect example on how to mix vintage and modern. Keep things interesting by adding something old to something new. If you’re looking for a way to warm up your modern space, add a piece like these Louis Vuitton trunks as unexpected furniture.
So far I’ve focused on mixing certain furniture styles. This last picture shows a good way to change up furniture finishes in a room. I love how the glass table really stands out in a room dominated by wood finishing.
