The Eclectic Touch
What is your style preference? Global? Traditional? French Country? Hollywood Glam? Are you a purest, or do you prefer mixing it up a little? Journey with Marissa as she shares tips on decorating with an eclectic touch.
Once of the newest interior design trends is eclectic decorating styles, according to ELLE Décor. Bringing an eclectic, fun look into your home gives you a chance to play around with colors and styles and really put your own touch in each room in your home.
Maybe you’re wondering, what exactly is eclectic design style? The definition of eclectic is, “Deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.” The word itself already sounds appealing to me! I like to think of an eclectic design style as mixing together individual things you really like to make one end product that you absolutely love.
You can mix together elements from different time periods, add a bold conversation piece, or create bright pops of color. It is important to be careful though when trying to create an eclectic style. It becomes very easy to get carried away when mixing different styles together, and you don’t want the room to look overwhelming or too cluttered.
One tip from JS Online to solve this problem is to start from the ground up, providing the foundation of the room. The floor should be something basic that can be matched with virtually anything.
Another important step is to find something that unifies the room. It can be a color, pattern, or any kind of theme throughout the room that still creates harmony in the room and at the same time mixes different styles.
Focus on bringing out your personality into the room. There are no set rules to follow so don’t be afraid to try something new or different. You never know when things that may appear to be opposites may look good together. You might surprise yourself by taking some risks when designing!
