Plan Your Getaway

via travelwithkids.about.com

We all need to get away sometimes, but it’s not easy with work, family and our busy lives in general.

With fall being in full swing, what better time is there to go on a weekend trip than now? Maybe you don’t have the time for a full weekend getaway, but surely you can take a day trip an hour or two away from your current location.

So, just grab the kids, and your husband, wife or companion and relax while the weather is still halfway decent…

What to Do on Your Trip

There’s absolutely no need to spend a lot of money on this trip. The main goal is to take a break and enjoy time with the special people in your life. Below are a few ideas to get you thinking:

  • Discover a new restaurant that you’ve never been to before
  • Go thrift shopping
  • Pack a picnic lunch and go to the park (whiles the air is crisp and the leaves are gorgeous)
  • Rent movies and stay in a hotel watching them…..don’t forget to order room service.
  • Create a yummy fall dessert
  • Get artsy and have everyone sketch there surroundings ( or paint, take pictures, make a collage, etc.)
  • Take a hike and/or go camping
What do you do on your day trips and mini vacations? Let us know in the comments, and remember: It’s okay to put your everyday routines on pause for a few moments, and really be in the moment.

  1. I really enjoyed this segment about “getting away.” I needed to be reminded that it is not always necessary to “PACK UP” to GET_AWAY!” Thanks for the reminder and I look forward to using these tips!
