Lifestyle: When your NEW home doesn’t like your OLD choices
8 weeks ago we bought a new house. As lovely as it is, we feel like we’re visitors in someone else’s home.
Here’s the deal, What do you do when your current furnishings don’t fit in with your new home? Take a look.
This lovely wallpaper is currently in my kitchen. While it’s quite nice, its just not us and….
It’s at war with the zebra print on my kitchen chairs This is what they look like together…all I can say is barf, barf, barf!
It hurts my eyes and makes me dizzy every time I enter my kitchen.
So I picked these chair covers up from Bed Bath and Beyond for a quick and easy fix. And they look ok, but….I still hate the wallpaper! I want a more seamless and open look. Patterns are great, but I prefer them on a smaller scale, especially since it affords you more flexibility in the long run.
So I’m faced with two choices: replace the wallpaper or decide to paint. Painting is a more affordable solution and for someone who likes change, it’s a better option.
It’s important to consider that my kitchen is north facing and doesn’t get a lot of natural sunlight, so I need a color with a good LRV or light reflectance value.Sherwin Williams has a few great choices.
Since I prefer pattern in a less overwhelming way, I am considering a bold large scale print for my kitchen window (over the sink) and a coordinated smaller scale print for the seat cushions. Here is the wall color and fabric I’m considering for the walls and window treatment..the results will be in a future post.
