Color Fabulous: 3 Ways to decorate with BOLD colors

Each week we provide Color Fabulous tips that help you punctuate your surroundings.  Today we’re showing you how to go BOLD!Color is stimulating.  Color is emotional.   It’s warm, cool, earthy,  and everything in between.

 So how do we decorate with color? How do we go BOLD?  

Here are 3 great tips to use on your next BOLD project.

1. Use bold to unify

2. Use bold to make a statement 

 A single dark wall can add depth and dimension to a room that is too bright, or too flat.source

3. Use Bold to minimize or maximize architectural details

The architectural details are maximized with a contrasting (deeper tone) in this dining room

Bonus tip: Here’s a good rule of thumb:  

To avoid a room that is too busy, 3 colors are a good guide

  1. 60% of the room should be the main color (usually neutral – or a color that is easy to live with)
  2. 30% should be your secondary color
  3. 10% should be your fun color, here’s where you can be BOLD and expressive
