I really love chocolate dipped strawberries and every now and then, my hubby would surprise me with some, on special occasions.
It wasn’t until I invited guests over for dinner a few years ago, that I learned how easy they are to make.
A friend brought dessert that night and it was a beautiful tray of chocolate dipped strawberries! She made at least 3 dozen and they disappeared in record time!
Ever since then, I make them for my family and friends all the time. In fact, they are often my Go-To dessert in a pinch.
So where can you find a dozen chocolate dipped strawberries for less than $5.00? In your own kitchen 🙂 Don’t worry they’re super easy to make.
All you need is two ingredients, chocolate (I prefer the Frutta brand), and strawberries!
The frutta is typically $2.99 and yields between 18 to 24 chocolate covered strawberries. The above strawberries were 2/ $4.00. One container had 18-20 berries.
Step 1
Rinse the berries and let them air dry. This is important because the chocolate won’t stick to wet berries.
Step 2
Once the berries are dry, microwave the chocolate for 60 seconds; It will be a little lumpy, so stir the mixture. 
Step 3
Zap it for another 30 seconds…This is how the consistency should look for dipping.
Step 4
Grab a fork, pierce the berries and let the dunking begin
Step 5
Place the berries on wax paper to cool and harden ( foil is a good back up if you’re out of wax paper)
Continue until you have dipped all the berries and then serve them with cool whip or whipped cream(the kids love this) or with champagne for the adults.
Of course this would be perfect for turning an ordinary night into a romantic one
