Lifestyle: Host a fabulous “Girls night out”
Thanks for stopping by Lifestyle Monday. We cover a broad range of topics in this section and hope they enhance your life in some small way. One of my fav things to do is nurture my relationships with my girlfriends.
I believe that no matter, what your background is, or what your cultural differences are, woman are more alike at the core of their being, than they are different.
My life is so blessed, because I have met so many incredible women.
Through my friends, I have learned how to prepare exotic foods, say I love you in different languages, and appreciate and respect some of our cultural differences.
My friends are beautiful, intelligent, enterprising, adventurous, hilarious, ambitious, fearless, unpretentious, and just awesome human beings.
I hope this post inspires you to reconnect with some of your girlfriends.
Here are some ideas to get you started.
Host a “Girls Night Out” and create some fabulous memories in the process.
1. Host a wine tasting- Have everyone bring 1 red and 1 white bottle of wine, create forms for everyone to record the notes, nose and finish of the wines and decide if the wine is worth adding to their “must buy” list.
2. Host an evening where everyone brings a dish unique to their culture ( make sure everyone includes the recipe). I did this a few years ago, and here are some of the things we had.
- Soul food
- Homemade Tai spring rolls
- Homemade egg rolls
- Baklava
- An Italian antipasta,
- Ethiopian beef and veggies
- Korean BBQ (Bulgogi)
- German Schnitzel
- flan
3. Host a “Beginnings and Endings” night – Get together for appetizers and desserts and just catch up with one another.
4. Movie theme night– Instead of just watching a movie together build the evening around the theme of the film. A few years ago, I watched a foreign film (French) with my friends and then served french food and wine as we critiqued the movie.
5. Host a craft night – Choose a fun project, and invite the girls over to take part. A paint project is fun, easy and so relaxing. You can provide canvases, paints and brushes for everyone, or have each person being their own. Remember to include good music, snacks and have beverages at the ready.
6. Host a “what would you do”? game – This is a fun way to bounce some ideas around or brainstorm a few solutions with your girlfriends. Maybe you have teenager challenges, you need to talk about, or empty nester dilemmas, or perhaps you’re dealing with a divorce or loss. Girlfriends can come through for you in these cases.
7. Host a “Room Re-do” gathering – Have your friends over to help you paint, rearrange and update a room in your home.
8. Treat yourselves to a weekend getaway – If you really need some downtime and can afford to take time off …my favorite thing to do is go for a weekend trip. Try a Cabin rental, beach house, spa getaway, or a shopping trip to New York city, When split 4-6 ways, this can be quite affordable.
I have found that when I return from a “Girl trip’, my soul feels renewed, and refreshed. Woman have a way of empowering, uplifting, and supporting one another.
