That’s Pinteresting: 4 Decorative Crafts for Kids
When you get the kids involved at decorating their rooms, they seem to like hanging out in there much more often, Grace has 4 fun projects to get kids decorating!
On Monday I wrote about ways to keep kids busy this summer and this post goes right along with it!
I took to Pinterest to look for crafts younger children could do that could also be used to decorate their rooms!
This way they will be able to make their bedrooms their own as well as fight off the boredom.
1. Decorate their initial
This picture is actually of a bird feeder but it has the same concept!
You can buy simple wooden letters at Michaels or any craft store really as well as glue, glitter, rhinestones, craft paper, and anything else your child wants to decorate with! They could even glue a hot wheel to it, anything they want to personalize their initial!
2. Decorative Fans
All you need for this project is construction paper, craft sticks, tape and markers. These fans would make great wall art and could be decorated in the same color scheme as the room! Have your child draw a face, picture or design on a piece of colorful paper them fold up like a fan and attach to the craft stick!
3. Picture frames
For this one you can use an old frame or buy a simple wooden one.
Girls can use beads, glitter, sequins, and ribbon to decorate and boys could use the same materials or lego pieces, marbles, twine, and macaroni.
Have them paint the frame and glue on all their decorations!
They can then frame their favorite picture!
4.Flower Pot Friends
There are detailed instructions for this craft on the site. But one thing I really like about this is that you can let the kids run with it.
All you really need is a small pot, paper towel/toilet paper rolls, paint, googly eyes and maybe some yarn or pom poms for fur and they can make whatever creature they want!
This site boasts over 50 ideas for kid friendly summer crafts! Definitely worth checking out!
Happy Crafting! And be sure to post a picture of whatever you decide to make on our Facebook! We want to see!!
