My bff from college recently took a trip to Singapore and Bali.
She was introduced to Bold beautiful hues and was gracious enough to share her experience with us.
Here is what she shares:
On a recent trip to South East Asia. I had the good fortune to experience Bali and Singapore.
Singapore impressed me with its pristine streets and contemporary architecture. Color was amass!
Everywhere around me, was art in motion with color explosions.
This picture shows a contemporary lounge in the Singapore Airport. Can we say form and function in unison?
I found artistic expression, from this vividly colored Tiger Beer truck to the bright red kayaks arranged symetrically on the beach.
Bali was more ethnically eclectic in her presence, with the perfect blend of traditional Bali and modern Bali.
Batik is the traditional fabric of Bali.
Orignailly, the cloth was hand woven and hand dyed. The patterns are formed by alternating different colors and changing the placement of wax applied to the fabric.
I collected ample yardage from a manufacturer, that still produces the fabric in this traditional way. No machines or stamped fabric here!
These high quality pieces can be transformed into amazing pillows, lampshade covers, upholstery, or Roman shades, the possibilities are endless.
Stone and wood carving is another skill mastered by craftsmen in Bali.
Below are images of one of the villages of stone and wood carvers.
My favorite finds were the brightly colored handmade European shams and bed covers. They are all one of a kind, hand painted pieces, that can be mixed or matched.
These gorgeous saturations of color are vibrant and alive.
The artist of these designs, works out of a thatch roofed hut, where her children sleep on a floor mat nearby.
Her eye for color is amazing as well as her contemporary point of view.
Mixing bold hues, gives any room personality and style.
