Inspiration: Why hire an interior designer when there’s HGTV?

No, this is not a pitch to sell you on interior design services, but there are 5 good reasons why one might consider it ( in my very humble opinion).

Reason #1:  It’s awesome to get a different point of view.  Before I became a certified professional, I sought the help of 2 interior designers some years ago. They both had very different recommendations of how my home should look.  Some ideas were great, and some were over the top. The benefit was seeing the space from a very different vantage point(s).

Reason #2: Having someone real to collaborate with is priceless.  Watching a show is great, but there are so many nuances to a physical space, that discussing  it’s challenges and goals with a local professional can be beneficial.

Reason #3:  HGTV makes everything look easy. So many times, DIY’- ers find themselves in the midst of projects that they don’t complete.  I know, I know, it looked so easy on tv.

Reason #4  You’ve got skills, but no time.

While the projects take 30 minutes to an hour on tv, they do require a significant amount of time, (which is a luxury most of us don’t have). Furniture has to be ordered and shipped, fabric has to be selected, measurements completed, floor plans and furniture layouts assessed and agreed upon, color schemes devised, walls knocked out, curtains ordered and hung, lighting solutions discussed, and the list goes on and on and on.

Reason #5  Leave the inevitable snafu’s to the professionals Let them get the  headaches and gray hair not you.  You get to celebrate and bask in the beauty, while they do all the heavy lifting.

HGTV is great, inspiring and super fun to watch.  I have my personal favorites too.

At the end of the day, if you need a little intervention, there’s nothing quite like a local professional to share your ideas with and get them realized.
