Inspiration: Redecorating? Don’t leave home without these

How many times have you been in the midst of a decorating project and you wish you knew the length of your current sofa or chair, the size of the room you’re redecorating or the exact color of the paint on your walls?

These 5 items are essential for working smarter and saving yourself time.  Keep them in a small pouch in your purse or glove compartment, so they’re with you when you’re out and about.

1. Small tape measure

You’ve discovered an awesome sofa and it’s on sale!  Will it fit in your space?  Will it fit through the doorway of your home?  If you have a handy dandy tape measure with you, problem solved.

2. Paint chips

Stop by your local paint store for paint samples to carry with you, your redecorating job becomes so much easier, when you’ve got the exact colors on hand.

3. Room Measurements

Bring along the measurements of your room(s) and the width of the door that furnishings will have to go through.  You will save yourself so much heart ache this way.

 4. Fabric swatches

Finding complementary pieces of furniture or accessories while you’re out, make buying add-on items a cinch when you bring fabric swatches with you.

5. Camera phone

Smart phones have become so awesome since they now have cameras attached.  Snap away, as you never know when you’ll find inspiration when you’re shopping, or an item to text to your partner, roommate, family member etc.
