Once upon a time there was a very uninspired room and the kid, who it belonged to, had no real desire to hang out in there.2013-12-26 14.14.48

Until one day, his mom said “enough is enough, this is a dump and it’s not working for me”.

She devised a plan that brought color, pattern and texture into the space.color pattern texture

It seemed to breathe new life into the room.1boys room redo

So often, boys have a “sports theme” in their rooms.  However, she decided to go with an urban loft feel.

This star athlete had many medals, ribbons and trophies, but instead of a sports theme dominating the space, she gave a nod to his interests by promoting his accomplishments in small vignettes.

1. She framed his medal collection.

2. Added trophies as bookends.

3. And displayed photos of him engaged in action.

4. She even hung his many ribbons on the inside door to the closet, to acknowledge his achievements, while staying true to the design plan.

Pattern (Tempaper to create a focal point)

Texture  (pillows, and metal art from Home goods)

These elements saved the room from it’s dismal uninspired beginning.
