Every now and then, my daughter gives her mom a break and submits a guest post.  Yay!!! This is no small feat because she has to keep up with her studies, babysitting (from time to time) and her own blog over at inexpensivechic.com

I sincerely appreciate her so much.

Set designs provide cool decorating tips and inspiration and she highlights a few here.  See if any of your favorite shows are listed.

There’s so much more that goes into the making of a TV show than the director, actors, and writers. You’ve heard of costume designers, the ones who dress the characters, but just as equally important are the set designers.

The way a set is “dressed” tells a lot about the plot and development of the characters. Let’s take a closer look at the components of different sets across TV’s most popular shows.

1. Modern Family

You may recognize the above images as the home of Claire and Phil Dunphy on Modern Family.

Production designer Richard Berg, created a traditional American family home with striped accents for a punch. According to Architectural Digest, Berg describes their home as “Pottery Barn meets Restoration Hardware.” Take notice of the plates in the kitchen hanging on the wall. This is a great way to add color to the space.

2. Mad Men

Set in the sixties, this definitely looks as though it’s from the mod-era. From the splash of orange in Don Draper’s office, to the vintage typewriter, even the psychedelic wallpaper in Roger Sterling’s office against white furniture… it all adds to the story and setting.

The production designer of Mad Men, Dan Bishop has been Emmy-nominated for his work four times.

3. Scandal

Olivia Pope is a working woman, she doesn’t have a lot of time for entertaining at her home and she doesn’t do a lot of cooking.

Corey Kaplan, the production designer behind Scandal, made sure her apartment reflects both of these aspects of her personality. The living room is full of comfortable looking chairs and the kitchen is always stark clean.

4. New Girl

The show, is set in a warehouse building, giving off an industrial loft vibe.

The basketball hoop in the dining area plays to the character’s youth, as well as the messiness (but somehow put together) overall in the space.

Production designer Michael Whetstone, made Jess’ bedroom very eclectic and artsy just like herself. Notice the two mismatched bedside tables. This is just a sample of cool set.

Which of your fav shows have cools design sets?

Electronic cigarette is only releasing a small amount
of vapor and nicotine. The user can smoke at hospitals, airports and

I have been browsing online more than 2 hours today,
yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me.
In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.
