How-to Wednesday: How to go Global with your decor
It all started with these pants………… I have a similar pair that are super comfy and make a bold statement simultaneously. I think it’s cool for your decor to do the same.
It’s important for our homes to have style, but bring us comfort and joy too.
Tribal, Kente cloth, African,Ethnic, Asian, European, Moroccan, Batik, Texture, Pattern, Aztec, Saturated colors, Eclectic, Bohemian, World bazaar, Bold, and skins, conjure up images of a Global chic vibe for me.
I really love to decorate with bold, lively colors, texture and large scale pieces. To me, they add style, attitude, and drama to a room.
If you want a wow factor, soft, small scale and pastels are not going to cut it.
Going global is a way to add personality, and soul to your surroundings and it’s an awesome opportunity to showcase items from your travels.
Here are a just a few ideas to introduce a global chic vibe.
1. Purchase 3-5 accessories to place strategically in your home to add a little ethnic flava.
2. Add Skins and antique artifacts to create interest
3. Use vibrant textiles and large scale prints to spice up your surroundings. Pillows and throws are great, but try updating an ottoman or chair in an ethnic print.
4. Create a feature wall of ethnic art

5. Design a faux headboard using fabric hung on a rod.
6. Frame a few favorite pics from your travels.
These are a few snapshots that my daughter took in Paris recently…..I can’t wait to frame a few of them. The architecture was stunning!
What images conjure up a global vibe for you?
