Sundays with Ydp: Three areas get a refresh
Sorry we missed you last week! Life has been a bit cray cray for me. Last Sunday was mother’s day and I couldn’t bear the thought of my mom (who recently lost her mom) celebrating it alone. So I flew to visit with her for a few days. I didn’t expect that I would have internet issues, but that was my reality during the 4 days. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise and gave me an opportunity to simply unplug.
It felt oddly awesome!
Since I’ve been back I had a blast engaging in a color consult, I designed a few custom window treatments and put the finishing touches on a ReFresh project. Oh and as if that isn’t enough, did I mention that we’re moving again? We are super excited to be downsizing and will be moving next week. Next week yall! I will be posting before and after pics as I spruce up the new digs.
In the meantime:
We added a new light fixture to a foyer and updated a kitchen and dining room area
Foyer:
Here are the before pics of the kitchen and dining room project
The goal was to open up the space between the kitchen and the dining room, add extra seating and replace the dining room furniture. The room magically appears more open and airy once the spindles were removed. (below)
I fell in love with this affordable laminate countertop that gave granite a run for it’s money and I
picked up these lovely leather stools from Grandinroad.
I decided to choose three colors for the stools to harmonize with the striations in the countertop. Storm Grey, Textured burnt orange and Textured desert.
This new dining set and sideboard replaced the existing one adding a casual, sleek, metropolitan vibe.
We opted for uplights creating soft lighting for romantic evenings.
While a tv in a dining room is not typical, it was perfect for my client. She is a single woman, who enjoys spending time playing games, and watching tv with family and friends And what better place to do that than the heart of the home.
This layout makes watching tv easy for those seated at the counter too.
Our custom roman shade and metal art added interest to the designDesign tip this week
Something as simple as removing spindles from a wall, can enhance your space with an open and inviting look. Open concepts are on trend in new home designs and can make your home feel new again. What is your kitchen saying? Could it use a little more openness?
