Use Red Spray Paint for Holiday Decorating
You may remember a couple of weeks ago, that my mother in law and I gathered lots of sticks from the woods. We used some of them to decorate our planter boxes in the front of the house. If you missed it, here’s the link
It turns out the sticks I used to add height to the arrangement, just faded into the background, so I decided to buy two types of red spray paint to help them stand out. One has glitter and the other a nice glossy sheen.
To avoid any overspray of splattered red paint all over our garage and the possibility of listening to my husband rant words of hysteria…I chose a deep box to spray the branches in. You can see the difference between the glittered branches and the glossy red ones here. Surprisingly, I ended up digging the glossy finish better than the glitter because it was a bit more dramatic. I also painted a few pine cones. If you look closely, you’ll see them in the bottom of the box. Placing them there helped to maximize coverage and minimize waste. The overspray from painting the branches was enought to cover them perfectly.
After applying the spray, I placed the branches back into the planter boxes in the front of the house.

Lastly, I decided to spruce up an empty nearby planter that used to hold summer blooms. I kept the branches natural this time, but added the pop of red with the pinecones.
A little red paint is a nice way to add a festive vibe to your holiday decor. Which would you choose? Glitter or high gloss red?
