Every room in one’s home has an important purpose, but there’s nothing like a nice, comfy and pleasant bedroom when it comes to your wellbeing. This is not only the place where you let yourself drift off to dreamland, but also a room that should relax and de-stress you. Color scheme, personal décor, lights and furniture layout in this room should differ from the rest of your home. Check out the following list of bedroom essentials and see for yourself whether there’s something that your bedroom is missing.
1. Soothing colors
There’s not a single rule when talking about a perfect color selection for your sleeping chambers, but all interior designers agree that the colors should be soft, gentle and muted. This is because really bright and bold hues boost your energy levels, which may prevent you from falling asleep.

In that respect, you can get the most out of your cheerful color scheme in your living room. Therefore, make sure that your bedroom features pastel and toned down shades that soothe your mind. Of course, you can opt for any color combo, as long as you find it calming.
2. Soft embrace
It’s very important to feel comfortable in your own bedroom. This means that you should always choose an orthopedic latex mattress for your main bed support, and use fabric softener for your pillow covers and sheets.

3. Proper balance
Also, if you don’t like having a lot of throw pillows on your bed, find some other way to decorate it. What’s more, your bedroom rug can also make a huge difference. It’s always better to have something soft and warm to walk on, on your way to bed instead of trying to warm up your cold feet once you’re under the covers.

The less furniture you have in your bedroom, the better. There has already been a lot of talk about how clutter and mess can put mental pressure on you. This can be especially evident in your bedroom. Some people even suggest getting rid of all electrical devices so that you can sleep more soundly. In general, your bed and wardrobe should take up most of the space, while other bits and pieces should be kept minimal. Depending on the size of your bedroom, your nightstands, vanity, ottomans, wall décor, etc. should be positioned in a way that creates harmony and balance when paired with other elements.
4. Pleasant lights
The importance of bright lights is always emphasized when it comes to home décor, but bedroom is a big exception to this rule. If you fancy reading before you go to sleep, make sure that your nightstand lamp provides you with enough light. But, when the rest of the bedroom lighting is concerned, it should be really soft and gentle on your eyes.

Mood lighting and recessed lights are generally thought of as the best possible solution for bedrooms. They provide adequate amount of light without straining the eyes and disrupting your sleep. In case you don’t have the possibility to install a whole new set of lights, you can always add dimmer switches to your existing light solutions.
5. Personal wall décor

When it comes to wall décor in your bedroom, it’s essential not to go overboard with it. One statement painting, or picture of your favorite type of scenery is the best choice for this room. In general, avoid family photographs in your bedroom. While these are a good option for your living room, in bedroom they can remind you of people and events and, therefore, prevent you from falling asleep. So, in order to make your wall décor more personal, always use art that depicts colors, sceneries and even patterns you find soothing and relaxing.
