Kitchen Backsplash Project: 8 Ways to Simplify the Process
Welcome back blog enthusiasts! Today, I’ll be walking you all through the process of making sure your kitchen remodeling process is as seamless and pain-free as can be. Typically, I design residential “living” spaces like great rooms, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms etc. but with kitchens being the hub of the home. I have recently had more requests in this area and I must say, it’s pretty exciting to add this area to my portfolio.
Here are a few quick guidelines for maximizing your efforts for kitchen back splash projects.
1.Determine your Budget
I’ve discovered that there is a vast degree of price ranges, design options and finishes that are out of this world. Coming to the table with an idea of your budget is a way to save time, and it will help direct your focus in a sea of vast selections.
2. Have an idea of you Design Aesthetic
Grab clues from your countertenors, cabinetry and furnishings. If your home is your forever home, you can go wild and have fun, however if you plan on listing in the next few years, go for a more broad appeal.
3. Seek Professional Guidance
This important step will save you time, money and frustration. Work with a designer who will do the legwork and use their resources for finding the best contractor for your needs. I have heard many stories from clients waiting for returned phone calls and follow-thru from contractors that never came through. Working with a designer alleviates this frustration, and will get the ball rolling quickly using his or her resources of skilled craftsmen and women.
4. Do the legit work FIRST
If you seek professional guidance from a designer, they will do all of the preliminary legwork for you. In most cases they will bring samples to your home to view with your decor and lighting. If you prefer doing this on your own, shop online first, narrow your search to 3 local retailers and schedule an appointment to meet with each one.
5. Get educated about the Tiles and Grout Choices
Many of the tile websites are informative about tile options, and the industry lingo and some provide opportunities to create 2D layouts. I really like this site for learning the lingo. LEARN THE LINGO
6. Consider your layout options to discuss with your installer

7. Find Inspiration photos to help communicate your vision

8. FINALLY, once you’ve made a decision, schedule a meeting at your local tile shop to place your order
