When the family you design for is awesome

I just finished up a project for a lovely family and for the first time in all my years I felt my age. I’m only 30 by the way (wink, wink).  As usual, furniture had to be moved and lifted, rearranged etc.
No big deal, I’m always up for the challenge. I move furniture all the time…Girl power unite!

My body on the other hand was saying …Girlfriend can I remind you that you are “not 30” anymore.
So needless to say, this girl took a long hot bubble bath after the install….because I truly felt like I was hit by a tractor trailer, volkswagon and a minivan. (yup all three!)

Basically, what this told me was, I need to put down the snacks and my evening glass of wine and get back in the gym, that’s all.  I’m just a little out of shape. (quit laughing)  but seriously, I’m already back and ready for the next project.

As for the family I worked with recently, let’s get to it…..

They were looking for an inspired space to come home to.  They often started projects, yet were too busy to complete them so they decided it was time to call for a little help.

Of the three plans we offer, they chose the REFRESH YOUR SPACE plan.
Here is a glimpse of the project

BEFORE PICS OF THE SITTING ROOM/ENTRYWAY

This was sort of the extra room that didn’t get much attention, but because it was in the front of the home, it needed to feel inviting.

AFTER PICS

To stay true to our budget, we simply moved the loveseat and recliner from the family room to this space. New purchases included an area rug, ottoman, side table and accessories to give the room it’s charm. We believe the custom window treatments and commissioned tile art created the wow factor and focal point the room needed. The art (both pieces) were meaningful to the family and adding them to this room felt perfect to them.

BEFORE PICS OF THE FAMILY ROOM

The family room was the main living area and hang out space for everyone. They wanted to create a casual yet sophisticated vibe that was conducive for entertaining and relaxing.

AFTER PICS OF THE FAMILY ROOM

The large sectional with a chaise was ideal for this family’s needs and the swivel chair was added for extra seating.   When clients want cozy; pillows, throws, rugs and window treatments are usually in the mix.  We borrowed the art from the dining room to use here because they loved the nature inspired motif. We then added two canvas art pieces (window wall) to harmonize with the theme.  The furniture was sourced from Havertys, Bassett and Ballard designs, while the art and accessories were sourced from Homegoods, wayfair and others.

BEFORE DINING ROOM

The dining room was also at the entrance of the home and required simple enhancements for a relaxed and casual vibe.

AFTER DINING ROOM

We lowered the light fixture, added stria style Custom window treatments, an arched mirror, and a few accessories to make a simple yet inviting statement.

BEFORE MORNING ROOM

Even with the new addition of a custom dining set from Bassett, new painted walls and light fixture, this room was missing something.

AFTER MORNING ROOM

We added an area rug, and ready-made sheers for a casual breezy vibe, along with inspiring wall art that captured the essence of what this family is about. They are about family faith and love and it was so evident with each visit.

Our project was on time and on budget. We provided a mix of both custom, and ready-made elements to stay on budget without sacrificing quality. All in all it was a pleasure creating a space that felt authentic and inspiring.
