5 Simple Ways to Boost Guest Bedroom Style
Guest postWhen we’re designing our home, we usually focus on the rooms in which we spend the most of our time. Consequently, when our relatives or friends come to visit for a few days, we end up being so embarrassed about our neglected guest room that we rather offer them our own bedroom. Not only is this a super-impractical solution, but it also shows them we don’t care that much about our home. Luckily, it’s never too late for a change! Here is a list of simple ways to boost your guest bedroom style and sweep everybody off their feet. Let’s take a look!
1. Declutter the space
First things first, before you start considering all of the details, you must make sure to declutter your guest room and get rid of all the garbage and unnecessary items. After all, even though you may have used this space as an additional storage area, once you decide to turn it into a guest bedroom, all that stuff simply has to go. Additionally, in order for your guests to feel welcome and cozy, you should invest in smart storage solutions. For example, installing a few drawers underneath the bed is the right way to go since they won’t occupy any additional floor space, but at the same time they will provide enough room for clothes and shoes. Additionally, a few hooks on the door will be an absolutely practical idea and allow your guests to hang their jackets and worn clothes overnight. Owing to these elegant storage solutions, your guest room will look much more elegant and we guarantee you that your guests will simply enjoy it.
2. Choose the right color palette
Choosing the right color scheme is essential for setting the right mood and defining the overall style of the bedroom. However, when designing your guest room, you should try to be objective and not just think about your own preferences. So, even if your favorite color is bright orange or a fluorescent yellow, do you really think that your guests would be equally excited about this choice!? Well, they probably wouldn’t, and that’s why it’s always better to play it safe here and give a warm monochromatic design a try. For instance, we particularly like the idea of incorporating pastel green or light grey paint since these nuances will contribute to creating a serene atmosphere and turning your average-looking guest bedroom into a true oasis of peace and relaxation.
3. A comfy bed is a must
Once you’ve painted your walls, it’s time you focused all your attention on choosing the right bed. Of course, going for the king-sized one is definitely recommendable, especially if you want your guest to feel as if they were staying in the royal palace. We particularly like those with canopy curtains since they contribute to creating an elegant and sophisticated look. However, apart from focusing solely on the design, you should remember to choose a comfy mattress as well. On the other hand, if you already have a quality one, don’t hesitate to look for a mattress cleaning service that will help you keep it in good shape and allergen-free. Finally, don’t shy away from bringing in a few extra chairs so that your guests have a place to sit while taking off their socks or putting on their shoes.
4. Bring in greenery
Greenery is simply a must if you want to turn your guest room into a healthy place for living since plants will purify the air and enrich it with oxygen. On top of that, potted flowers can serve as amazing decoration and bring new life into this space. Furthermore, if you want to create a tropical feel in this part of the home, think about introducing a few potted trees. Their unique look would definitely stand out from the crowd and make your guests fall in love with your home at first sight.
5. Personalize for each guest
Last but not least, you can always go a step further and personalize your guest bedroom for each individual visitor you’ll be hosting. For example, if you know that your cousin who is visiting next month loves reading, feel free to upgrade your bedroom by incorporating a small bookshelf. You can either search for one online or use this as an opportunity to show off your DIY skills and make one on your own. Additionally, if you know what your guest’s favorite color is, you can bring in certain accessories in that particular nuance. This way, even without creating some huge alterations, you’ll manage to adjust this room to every single guest and show them how much you care and appreciate them.
As you can see, transforming your guest bedroom into a super-stylish and chic one doesn’t have to be hard at all. You just need to think about your guests’ needs and come up with some practical solutions. Finally, don’t be afraid to think outside of the box and surprise your guests with a uniquely-designed room.
