Why a Binder is Essential for your decorating needs
This is truly going to be your go-to tool throughout the process of making your house a home and you will be so happy you did this!
What should you include and why?
- Each room should have it’s own binder with the room name, mood, budget and timeline. If you are buying for Rita’s zen bedroom for example, your purchases will be focused on zen-like options in a certain price point.
- Grab any and everything that inspires you for the space. Great places images or downloads from pinterest, houzz, IG, Google, magazines, websites
- Insert sheet protectors to use as sleeves for miscellaneous photos, fabric and paint samples
- Include measurements of each room along with images of the space (include an overall view and one of each wall, ceiling and floor)
- Don’t forget to add measurements of doorways, hallways and windows. You will avoid the headache of discovering furniture that won’t fit through a doorway or hallway.
- Include quotes and estimates from contractors (this will help with budgeting for your project)
- If available, add floor plans (as you shop your plan, this is helpful for furniture purchases)
- Include color palettes, lighting, carpet, tile samples.
Down the road
The best part about creating this binder is having the ability to reference it years later as you enhance, refresh or make changes in your home. Everything will be at your fingertips….easy breezy. The best thing of all though is its ability to help you stay on task , within the established budget, which ultimately reduces overwhelm
