Wall art is one of those things that is truly personal.  As a designer, I source art for my clients often, but at the end of the day, it’s you who will connect with the selections.

Are there clients who don’t know what they want?  Absolutely. Do you need direction sometimes? Most certainly and I absolutely love love love helping.  Sometimes we don’t know what we like until we see it and sometimes we don’t know what we don’t know, until someone educates us.  It’s all good!

Here are a few tips to consider when purchasing new art

  • Decide what your overall room or home vibe will be.
  • Choose if  you want your art to blend in or become a conversation piece
  • Consider what color family feels awesome to you
  • Consider a gallery wall or triptych collection for wide wall landscapes.
  • Take stock in your furnishings, if you already have lots of patterns and prints going on, your art should be minimal. I might even suggest black and white photography.
  • On the other hand, If your living room landscape is minimal or monochromatic for example, your walls will likely beg for something bold, daring and impactful, unless serenity is your goal.
  • Consider going with a theme.

Themed ideas

Examples of themes might be: organic, tropical, beach, urban, a color theme, family theme, abstract, females, males, sports theme, bar theme, cultural theme, floral, quotes & phrases and the list goes on.  The idea is to choose one or two ideas for the entire home or one theme per room.

Sourcing art is fun, exciting and largely personal. I think it should represent something about your culture, values, inspiration and or history.

It should connect with you, evoke positive emotions and ultimately make you smile….this would be a win!

The collections featured in this post are options from one of our fav vendors.  I love that they can be customized for each of you.  From various sizes, frames, finishes and styles.  Sometimes a refresh requires something as simple as bringing life to our walls.  Is this the case for your home?
