How To Keep Your Home Clean While Living With Pets

Maintaining a clean home is tough when you are living with your family. It becomes even more challenging if you are living with furry pets such as a cat or dog. This is because their fur and dander can slowly creep in and take over your home.

Fur functions in the same way as hair does among humans. The fur insulates animals, protecting them from extreme changes in temperature. It also safeguards their skin from other potential sources of damage, whether it be physical or chemical.

If you feel like your pet’s hair and fur are becoming too overwhelming and are overtaking your home, maybe it’s time for a proper cleanup.

A specialized cleaning company in Dubai gives the following pointers on how to keep your home neat and tidy while you have fun with your pets.

1. Keep a brush ready

Animals will shed, regardless of whether your pet breed features a long double coat or if it is the short-haired type. Compared to animals in the wild that only shed during specific seasons, domesticated animals will commonly shed throughout the year.

Heat and sunlight triggers a reaction in furry creatures. During the summer, the animal’s body responds by keeping their fur short to make it cooler. Domesticated animals that live indoors or temperature-controlled environments won’t have this trigger; thus, their shedding is no longer limited to specific seasons.

Pet owners will need to brush their pets to remove excess fur. Performing this on a routine basis helps keep the fur under control, preventing the formation of knots and matting. This way, not only will you be able to keep your pets clean and happy; you also get to keep your home clean — so everyone is happy.

2. Give your pet regular baths

Bathing your dog, for example, removes dirt, grime and some of the matted fur they may have. The dog’s body will also react to bathing by producing more fur.

Now, you may think that this sounds counterproductive; why give your dogs a bath when it only encourages the production of more fur?

If you brush your dog’s fur while it’s wet, you will notice that the brush gets fuller much quicker. By conducting more brushing sessions, you will actually end up with a shorter shedding season as compared to when you don’t bathe and brush your pet.

3. Buy lint rollers

Lint rollers are a godsend for pet lovers. They do more than simply remove lint off your clothes. These nifty devices are also effective in removing fur from a wide range of surfaces and materials — clothes, curtains, furniture and more.

Don’t settle for just one. Get at least one for each room that your pets stay in or have access to. Have a few hanging by each of the doors of your house so you can readily remove stray strands before leaving your home. You may also need to carry a few with you inside your car.

If you are inviting people over, put a few rollers in the bathrooms and other areas where your guests may be in. People with allergies may have more difficulty having a good time with your pets around, but the effort of keeping the fur away from them as much as you can may be appreciated.

4. Use rubber

Carpets and fabrics are fur magnets. Frequent vacuuming is one of the more established ways of keeping carpets clean. However, pet lovers have discovered other ingenious ways of cleaning floors and furniture.

Rubber-soled footwear and squeegee mops work wonders in removing animal hair. The rubber surface makes it easier to collect fur and hair. Simply placing the rubber material under running water gets rid of the fur quickly.

5. Choose machine-washable fabrics

Leather furniture makes cleaning easier. But for beds, sofa covers and other furniture pieces made of fabric, machine-washable types are recommended.

As the name indicates, the fabric can be placed in the wash when it has accumulated too much animal hair, among other things. This way, laundry will be a breeze.

It is possible to live with your furry companions without being overrun by their fluff.

By following these recommended tips, you are on your way to keeping your home clean even with pets around. In the event that you do need some assistance, there are professional part-time and full-time housekeepers that can give you a helping hand.
