Inspiration: Dorm Decor Experts

My freshman and sophomore years of college I lived in Marian University’s dormitories. Doyle Hall housed the entire freshman class and was composed of double rooms with cinder block walls and communal restrooms. University Hall was where I lived sophomore year and was built just 4 years ago. It was composed of 4 person suites which were two double rooms separated by a bathroom. The size and shape of these rooms varied a lot between the two dorms and it was always a test of our spatial skills when it came to arranging the standard issue furniture.

Needless to say real dorm rooms do not look like the ones in the pottery barn catalog! This week I will share some tips I’ve picked up to help utilize space and create a cozy atmosphere. I will even be adding pictures of my past dorm rooms as well as my friends’!

I’m almost positive I’ve mentioned Pinterest in every post I’ve written this summer but it really is a great tool especially for stuff like this! Its super easy to find lots of great bloggers for anything you need with lots of great advice.

This blogger identified some easy ways to add some personal touches to your otherwise white washed room.
When I was preparing to leave for college I was overwhelmed by all the linens and bedroom accessories I had to purchase. I ended up going to rhl.org and ordering one of their college bedding bundles. They have tons of colors and patterns in twin XL bedding and I was able to get my comforter, 2 sets of sheets, pillow cases, hamper, mattress topper and towels from them. The quality isn’t great but the price is decent and since I knew most of what I bought would be pretty well worn by the time I graduated I wasn’t bothered!

This is the set I got:

This blog has a few good cost effective and realistic tips for the dorm also.
