Inspiration Monday: Dashing through the snow – Decorating with white

Our first winter storm of the season has inspired this post. Yes, snow can be inspiration too!  Remember, I see inspiration in all things…it really is true.  

When I glanced outside yesterday morning, I couldn’t believe how incredibly white it was.  The streets and driveways were indistinguishable from one another and the trees glistened, with snow.
It’s not my preference to drive in this kind of weather, but I love the beautiful backdrop that snow creates.

When I design spaces, one of the first things I ask clients is, what feeling or theme are they trying to achieve.
The response from this one question takes us on a journey of discovery.
I must say that so far, white has not been the preferred color of choice, but here are some thoughts for using this very versatile hue.
This color or (non color)is great for layering, creating sophisticated and luxurious spaces and definitely one you’d use when the kids are grown up, and out of the house.:)
Here are a few ways to make a beautiful statement in your home.

1. Your may want to:

  • Pair it with grays, and silver for a modern sensibility
  • Try a monochromatic palette using textures for added interest.
  • Create a dramatic juxtaposition with deep hues balanced with neutral white.
