Some important considerations are:
- Surround yourself with hues that speak to you and make you feel good.
- Decide it you will use color boldly or softly
- Decide if you will you use one color in different shades (monochromatic)or play with a few hues.
- If you go Bold, do so strategically, so as not to overwhelm a space.
- An accent wall in a bold hue is strategic.
- Bold accessories rhythmically placed is strategic.
- For a harmonious palette use hues that are next to each other on the color wheel.
- For a more dramatic approach, use colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel.
- Ask yourself, if the space will be masculine or feminine?
- What style or theme are you shooting for? Perhaps Nautical, Sophisticated, Luxe, Cottage, or French Country for example?
- If you are placing your home on the market in the near future, think universal appeal and neutral.
- If this is your dream home or one that you will retire in, the sky is the limit.
- Choose colors that you can live with for an extended period of time.
- Go with trendy colors in small doses, as the latest, greatest, newest shade, will be out in less than 12 months.
