Sundays with Ydp: Our first partnership was a blast

Our very first workshop of 2015 was a lot of fun. We had 20 RSVP’s, yet at the last minute a few cancellations. (That’s what winter weather will do, I suppose)

While the group was small and intimate…It was a good time and a chance to meet new friends.

For the design component, we discussed how to choose home accessories based on how you want your space to both look and feel; much like when you choose accessories for an outfit.

For example, you may want a casual, global look, or go for a sophisticated elegant one.

I prepared an exercise with a list of power words as a new way to encourage inspiration.

When you consider the mood you want to create, making selections will become easier, more strategic and intentional.

Here’s an example of what I mean….Circling up to 5 or so words from the selections below, will get your creative juices flowing and you’re off to a very good start! 🙂

If I want a sensual master suite, I may choose the following words: Romantic-dreamy-intimate-monochromatic- this will then direct my choices of paint colors, fabrics, flooring and accessories for the room.

Which 5 words would you circle for a master bedroom? How about a family room or home office?
