Sundays with Ydp: It’s important to “Do you”
When I received my certification in interior decorating back in 2009 I wasn’t sure how I was going to compete with more talented decorators and designers in my area.
Being the new kid on the block, you don’t get hired until you have experience, but the only way to get experience is to get hired.
I had my design principles under my belt and a “Bring it On” level of enthusiasm! I was excited! It turns out that there was interest in my work before I even completed the certification program. Can I get a woot woot!
The jobs came. Small jobs, middle of the road jobs and larger ones. And then I moved to a new state and had to start over. Say what now? You mean I can’t bring my clients with me? uh Nope!
So I am currently a little fish in a big pond, but that is okay. There is enough business in our interior design pool.
I love that I can take projects that feel overwhelming to most and turn them into beautiful, functional, liveable spaces.
I also love that there are people that I can rely on to help me in areas that feel overwhelming to me.
The thought of keeping up with my bookkeeping is not something that I get excited about. So I am thankful for bookkeepers who actually enjoy this type of work.
“DOING YOU” is what it’s all about.

Choose things that speak to YOU and your family. It’s the most important thing you can do, for the most important place in your life….HOME.
You may admire your neighbor’s place or those hot new colors that are trending in all the latest magazines, but are they you? Will they feel comfortable in your space? Will you love them a year from now? If you “Do you” your answers will be yes, yes and yes.
