Discover unique “finds” from our list of 50 black owned businesses
Have you had an opportunity to check out our featured businesses yet? You will find unique, one of a kind finds that just might improve the way you look, the way you feel, and maybe the way you shop.
As promised, we wanted to highlight a few businesses over the next couple of weeks from our list of 50 black owned businesses.
Here are the first 3! I have personally purchased from all three listed.
I was at a turning point with my hair a couple of years ago and decided to stop relaxing it. I met Dana of Afrodite salon who gave me excellent styling and maintenance advice for managing my thinning hair. After a year of being relaxer free, my hair grew thicker and healthier, as I transitioned from relaxed hair, to kinky twists, to a full (larger than life) afro.
I must say, that the big fro was a bit much for me (I felt a little too old for that) so the credit for my current signature look, goes to Dana. What I love about it is that It’s short, sassy and super easy to maintain. Dana is local here in Cincinnati. She promotes hair care products that are great for maintaining healthy hair. She also transitioned my daughter’s hair too. If you need guidance on good hair care You can find her website here.
2. For African style fashion, look to DorisandDoris on etsy.
They are based out of London. I ordered the dress featured below and it arrived super quickly. I love the large scale details on the front and back and feel so stylish when I wear it. To see this style and others, go here
3. I discovered Nikki’s groove on instagram and I just adore her style. It’s fresh, original and reflects the images of women of color in everyday life. The artist felt the need to create images that look like her, simply because she felt that we women of color were underrepresented. Her images show us empowered and sexy, as girlfriends, mom’s, entrepreneurs etc. She has t shirts, cell phone covers, coffee mugs, art, and more. I just ordered a set of greeting cards, and am excited to receive them. Click here to be directed to her Etsy shop
Which is your favorite shop? If you haven’t yet, do check out the full list. Here’s the link to the original post.
Happy Black history month friends,
