In the spotlight

Here is part two of our featured black owned businesses from the list of 50 we created HERE. Today we’re highlighting a photographer, a restaurant, and a makeup line. All of which I’ve personally experienced.

  1. Coco Jane Photography

Janine, the photographer behind Coco Jane Photography is a joy to work with! She’s got a bubbly personality and a joyous heart, AND on top of that, she’s excellent at what she does. We had the chance to work together when she did my senior photos a couple of years ago (as shown above). We’ve talked since then about collaborating again on another shoot, this time with my doing the fashion styling. Click HERE for more examples of her work, and booking info.

2. Island Frydays

Island Frydays is a Jamaican restaurant right off the University of Cincinnati’s campus. They’re known for their jerk chicken sandwiches, but what keeps me coming back are the jerk fries and delicious island drinks. Click HERE for their menu.

3. Black Radiance

I first heard about Black Radiance while reading an article on Curly in College, a blog for curly-haired naturalistas. What took me aback were the prices of the products in the makeup line specifically for darker skinned women. Everything was inexpensive. This encouraged me to try the brand, and I ended up LOVING their concealer stick, and a few lipsticks. I often use the concealer stick on my lips first to hold the color of the lipstick. Black Radiance can be found at many drugstores, Target, and walmart, but for a full list click HERE.
