I DIDN’T EVEN CRY FRIENDS

So we dropped our son off at college this week; the last one to leave the nest.  I did get a bit emotional, but held back the tears. well, until I got back to my car.

I’m feeling so many mixed emotions right now that are different than what I expected.  Am I sad?  A little.  Excited? Yes.

Is there a pit in my stomach? Yes. My emotions are all over the place because this also symbolizes “new possibilities” for the hubby and me. We don’t have anyone to take to a game, track meet, or after school event. We don’t have to plan meals for 4.

We don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to nurse a sick child. We’re in the next chapter of our life too.

What will our next chapter look like?  Sure we’re excited, but a little nervous too. Will the kids go to grad school, fall in love, meet their spouses? I know, I know  I’m getting way ahead of myself, but these are my thoughts.

Wow life is funny and fast and amazing and scary and fantastic and bitter and sweet and so many more “ands”.

When your last one goes away to school, you think you’re going to feel like this (left image) but instead you feel like this (right image).

I pray that both our awesome kids, excel and reach their goals and I pray that they keep God in the center of their lives.  Pray for us and with us as we all embrace the next chapter.

As for this week’s blog post: I’ve been working with this lovely couple for the past few weeks.  They are first time home owners with very busy lifestyles and needed someone to simply take the reigns to get their project off the ground. We went for a relaxed space with accents that were nature and family inspired and we included art that was meaningful and authentic to their Puerto Rican heritage.

Their home was always welcoming and I was greeted with a fresh cup of coffee with each visit.  What I enjoyed most was that both hubby and wife were involved in the process. They were decisive and clear about their budget and expectations.  And the kids!  So well behaved and sweet. With clients like this, you can’t help but love your job.

Next week we will post before and after photos of the THM project.  Do stay tuned.

Hope your week is phenomenal and blessed.
