Window treatments make the room

This has been a pretty busy week of window treatment installations.  Window treatments are a large part of what we do. What I love most is when I work with clients who are newcomers to the window coverings side of things.  Furniture is a no brainer, but valances, draperies and shades….um I’ll think about it?  I often hear, “my spouse doesn’t like those”, or “I  don’t think we need them”.

But when they decide to give window treatments a try, clients are astounded by the results.  “My room feels taller”, “I’ve never noticed those (insert word) before” or Wow that really makes a difference in my great room, family room, master suite etc.

Of course hearing these comments makes my heart smile.  Not once has anyone said, ” I wish I’d kept my windows bare” or ” I’m really unhappy with how the fabric coordinates or harmonizes with the room.

In all seriousness though, window treatments really do make the room and I absolutely love seeing the results just as much as my clients.

Every installation is like Christmas to me.

It’s like unwrapping a gift and I can’t wait to see the results.

Here are a few recent projects that we fell in love with.

The Guilford Indiana project

For the Guilford Indiana project we enhanced the windows of a great room, home office Kitchen, dining room, powder room and laundry room. Here are a few of them.

Project Liberty township custom window coverings

We added top treatments to the kitchen, embellished the master suite draperies with decorative trim and added drama to the great room windows with a subtle pattern. The results were striking.

Project 167

These are the longest panels we’ve installed to date.  At 167″ this orange geometric pattern created the bold statement we were going for.

To trim or not to trim?

Some fabrics make a statement all their own (left) while others  (right) offer subtlety.  While quiet and subtle are often enough,  there are times when something “extra” is needed and that’s when we add decorative trim.

Same or different? 

Sometimes I like using the same fabric but different styles to show harmony between rooms, especially for an open floor plan. These are two styles from a recent first level project called Project BR.

Choosing the hardware is integral to the design 

You want your rod and finials to complement the fabric selection as well as the finishes in a given room. To mix things up, I chose a matte black rod with brushed nickel finials (left). Which is different than a typical matched set like the one on the right.

Window treatments can really make the room and I’m so glad each project feels like Christmas. What is your fav room accessory?
