When you try to grow sometimes you stumble

Friends I have been praying for my business a lot lately and set some goals for myself as 2017 came to a close.  I wanted new opportunities to come my way and to create partnerships with other professionals in the trade. I wanted to get really clear on my goals and business identity and I spent a great deal of time reading and researching things about how to do just that.

You may have noticed that we’ve had quite a few guest writers on the blog.  They have been a blessing during this time, because quite frankly I’ve been a bit swamped.

I just want to report that things are good and I’m learning a lot about kitchen and bath design right now.  This has not been my focus in the past, but one that I always had an interest in exploring. I was lucky enough to get linked up with a highly respected builder in the community and the firm has been keeping me busy.  Below is an example of a reeent bathroom concept.

What I’m learning about the remodeling business is mind blowing.  MIND BLOWING.

You don’t know details until you’ve worked with a builder.

You don’t know what you don’t know until you’ve worked with a builder

You may even think you’ve got it going on and humility eludes you, until you’ve worked with a builder.?

Basically what I’m trying to say is, the next time you see a builder…..give him or her a really BIG HUG because there are so many moving parts behind the scenes of a remodel or new construction, that you’ve got to appreciate what they bring to the table.

When you try to grow, sometimes you stumble.  Well, I’m stumbling a little right now left and right, but I’m getting right back up. I love that I’m stretching myself and can offer another level of service to my clients and I feel blessed to be able collaborate with professionals in the field who really know how to bring it.

My favorite thing of all time is helping my clients create an authentic home ……and if i’m keeping it real, I will admit I prefer engaging once the walls are already up. I don’t want to lose that focus because that is where my passion lies.

In fact, I’m currently working on  designing a teenager’s room for a special young lady in Mason Ohio.  Here are some of the words she used to describe her ideal space.  COZY, CHEERFUL, ELEGANT, SOULFUL, UNPRETENTIOUS, CHILL, CALM, DIGNIFIED AND CLASSY.  Her top three were CALM, CHILL AND ELEGANT. I can’t wait to give this much deserved teen exactly what she wants.

So far we’re looking at new furniture and accessories to work with a few existing pieces in the space. She currently has turquoise accents in her room and wants to introduce a splash of violet. Below are just a few preliminary iterations of the layout and colorations so far.

What about you, any goals for 2018 challenging you? Are you growing and stumbling too? If so I’d love to hear about them.
