Feedback from our first edesign client ..She’s 15

Our first edesign client is a very deserving young lady who just celebrated her 15th birthday. I recently completed a project for her parents last year. You might remember the mason family room refresh

It’s not uncommon for me to come back and tackle additional rooms for clients, but this particular one was a bit different. Instead of an on-site visit to assess the room, take photos, measurements and gather details, this was all done by the client.  She sent me the details and inspiration, and I took it from there.

This is essentially how the e-design consult works. It’s an affordable, hands-on way of receiving professional design advice digitally.

How do you access the site?

  1. Via a direct link emailed from Ydp
  2. Clicking the e-design service icon from the homepage of yourdesignpartner.com
  3. Or by hovering over the “How can we help” tab from the top navigation bar on the homepage

After logging into the site and selecting the starter package, the client was prompted to answer a few questions about her vision, style preferences, budget and turnaround time. Below is an example of the questionnaire.

She then shared photos of her room, inspiration pics and measurements of the space.

Her Inspiration

After everything was submitted and reviewed, she received a floor plan, our recommendations and design rationale (with shoppable links) .  This way she could purchase items right away if she desired.

I asked my client for feedback and here is what she said.

Was it easy to navigate and understand?  Yes

Were there annoyances? No

Were there options missing that you think are important? No

Were recommendations in line with your vision? Yes

***Do you think one option is enough for the standard package?  Maybe a few more options

What did you like most/least from your list of recommendations?

Most:  bed/nightstand

***Least: rug/bedding  (rug would like more gray/white and bedding gray).

Were the prices more or less expensive than expected?  Less

Did we stay on budget?  Yes – Mom forgot about the mattress though.  ?

What did you find the most helpful? Shopping list with links.

***Where could we improve? Once we got passed the credit card issue it was easy.

Did you find value in the service received?  Was it just right, too high, or too low?

 Just right!

The budget for the space was between 1k-1500 and we came in just under( $1422.00).  At first glance, it appeared to be a bit conservative, but we managed to come in under budget, even with a few added recommendations. This was possible for two reasons, knowing where to source products, taking advantage of sale opportunities and working with clients who are flexible.

Here are our recommendations

2D Concept board with clickable recommendations and floor plan

Depending on the package chosen, clients will receive a floor plan and concept board in 2D or 3D, along with shoppable links.

*** Note: while this was a positive and successful experience for our client, there were a few takeaways from the feedback  I’d like to comment on.

***Do you think one option is enough for the standard package?

1.The standard package only comes with one design. The client suggested that a few more options would be helpful… I will weigh if adding a few more options is feasible without altering the pricing.

***Least:

2. The client’s least fav part of the design was the rug and bedding reco.  I think allowing a few more options would improve this experience.

***Needs improvement?

4. What needs improvement? The client had issues using a Discover card.  Apparently there is a glitch in our system when using this form of payment.  It is currently being addressed.

All in all,  I’m excited to offer this form of service to both local and distant clients and look forward to making improvements along the way. This is the start of making our digital online service better and we are truly grateful for the feedback. My clients have already begun making purchases and I can’t wait for them to share photos.
