MARISSA’S HOLIDAY BASKET

My holiday basket would definitely be a movie basket. What better way to relax than curled up on the couch on a cold winter night with a great movie to enjoy? Included in my basket are some of my favorite movies, popcorn, gift cards to AMC movie theaters, and other movie related items. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! 🙂

I Love Marissa’s idea!  Here’s what you can purchase for your MOVIE NIGHT AT HOME Don’t forget the goodies!!!

A large bowl or bucket to hold these items:

Popcorn boxes

Gift certificate for Blockbuster or other video store

Microwave popcorn

A cozy throw

Movie candy

Soda pop

In the age of electronics we often stray away from family time. It seems that everyone in the family is doing their own thing.

My husband is a huge fan of game night and spending family time together.

He and the kids often have to reel me in to play sometimes, especially when I’m finally immersed in a good book :(.  I think they would appreciate the gift idea below.

family game night

A large basket is ideal for holding and even storing your family’s favorite games.  remember old maid, twister, coloring?  Enjoy relaxing family time with this gift giving idea.

How about old fashioned pick up sticks?  Am I dating myself now?

Since we’re taking about movie night and family time, why not go for “matching Pjs” to really get into the spirit.  Sure it’s a bit GEEKY but oh so fun!
In fact why not make some for your holiday guests from the little tykes to grandma and grandpa.  You’ll appreciate the photos when you look back on them years later.   All it takes is a simplicity pattern, a little time (4 seams) and elastic and you’ve got a very large pj party!!!  Not into sewing or don’t have the time?  Get someone to whip these up for you…..start a new family tradition!
Do you love winding down to a good read?  Whether you’re old school and like real books or prefer e- readers, this is a great gift idea to give or receive.

Here are some ideas for the basket

An e-reader
A cozy throw
Yummy snacks and beverage
A portable book light
An e reader cover
Gift card for amazon.com or the receiver’s favorite book store
Reading glasses (if they’re over 40 :))…they’re a buck at the dollar store!
Gift giving is as much fun giving as they are receiving.   What do you plan to give this year?

  1. I love the idea of movie and game nights. I love to get together with family and friends and play games, drink hot cocoa and tea.
I often host craft nights, but I NEVER tell adults that, I just tell them its a dinner party and spring it on them when they get there, Adults get too uptight about creating, I usually have a craft you cannot mess up this week we will be gluing junk jewelry onto wooden boxes and gilding it, A foolproof beauty and fun too!

My new favorite game is Quirkle. Fun for all ages and easy to learn. I want to see pics of the PJ’s you all chose!

love the idea with the jewelry! I think you’re right about not telling adults they’ll be engaged in a craft….I don’t usually announce it either, but once they get started everyone actually loves it and realizes how relaxing it is! Love your site-wish I were in Atlanta to partner with you and utilize your talent.
