Decorating with planters- 5 ways to repurpose the flower pot – Caitlin

With 5 weeks of winter left, you may be itching to welcome spring. To cure your winter blues, take something conventional from your garden and use it in a completely unconventional way: the flower pot. Here are 5 ways that will get you to dust off your flower pots from storage and put them to good use.

1. Centerpiece

Flower pots can make great centerpieces if you spruce them up a bit. Add fabric, like the first picture, or you can even paint them with patterns and colors of your own liking. Decorating flower pots can be limitless. I particularly love the one with the gems.

2. Storage

Small flower pots can be used to store odds and ends. Miniature pots could hold paper clips or other office supplies. Paint the flower pot with chalkboard paint so you can label what’s inside. Below, flower pots are labeled with chalk to hold a girl’s makeup and hair accessories.

3. Address

Use several large flower pots to easily display your street address. For this project, you could paint the pots any color and then stencil the numbers on the front. Get this project ready now and by spring you’ll have the most creative house address on the block.

4. Food Cover

This is another DIY to complete before spring begins. If you turn your flower pot upside down, it can be used as a food cover. This could be used during the spring and summer months to keep bugs away or, for now, the cover could keep dips warm before they are served. Paint the pot any color and add an optional string to the drain hole to easily pick it up.

5. Table Legs

This unconventional use of planters was spotted at one of the Home Shows in Atlanta. We love how it creates a space to display items.  Imagine using one planter with a circular glass top to use as a side table in your home.  Genius right?  Or you can use two shorter planters with a custom made top to create a coffee table.

We’re inspiring creativity,

Ricci

    Hello Ricci
I just love your ideas and decorating tips. Plan to use your door and urns idea to display my pots of sample cookies for my customers. They can see the brand on the pot instead of each package(saves on label cost) and makes the experience both tasty and pretty……keep the ideas coming
