ROMANTIC NIGHT IN

Valentines Day is fast approaching. Are you already thinking about how you want to spend this special day?  Perhaps you’ll be surprised by your significant other, and not have any say so in the arrangements, but if you do have an input, here are some ideas to discuss together.

Imagine being able to avoid crowded restaurants, annoying traffic jams or long movie lines and enjoy a relaxing night right in the comfort of your own home.

Here are some tips to Create A Romantic Night In

Create A Romantic Corner, Nook, or Niche in your home – and choose a theme for the evening.  Here are a couple of examples:

1.  Casual and Cozy

  1. Have an indoor picnic
  2. lay out a blanket with large comfy pillows
  3. Enjoy an array of finger foods, accompanied with wine and cheeses
  4. Choose a romantic movie to watch together with popcorn, candy and your favorite beverage.

3.  Sophisticated Fun

Set a table for 2:  Place your best linens, stemware and place settings on the table for a  romantic date.  And if you’re really into it, dress up in something fancy.

Choose your favorites foods, but make sure they’re not too messy….Spaghetti is one of the most unromantic foods to eat…..I love spaghetti, but trying to eat it with any level of finesse is darn near impossible no matter how hard I try.  So if you’re like me back away from the spaghetti!

Add soft lighting and fresh flowers as a centerpiece:  Instead of going for the typical Roses, try some other stems that are just as gorgeous.  My favs are Gladiolas(flyingflowers.com) and tulips(tulips.com).  Glads have an elegance that I adore and tulips are lively and fun.

Utilize your home to the max:   Dine in one room.  Have dessert in another and end the evening gazing at the stars, relaxing in hot bath or engaging in a fireside chat.  Go down memory lane together.  Talk about what brought the two of you together. Share the things that you love about each other (this is not the time to talk about what you don’t like) 🙂 🙂

After you choose which theme best fits the type of evening you desire, make sure you include:

Music:  It is essential to the Soul.  Create a playlist that will speak to you.  Do you want soft music, latin sounds, smooth jazz?  Whatever your flavor, it’s a must to make sure your space resonates with these sounds.  Perhaps you’ll start the evening off with upbeat music you can salsa or merengue to, and as the evening progresses you may want to switch to something more relaxing.

Convenience:   Forget about cooking, have your favorite meal delivered right to your door.  Sure most restaurants are going to be bustling, so you may have to pay a friend or delivery service to pick this up for you.  And you probably want to plan this early.  Get a sense from the restaurant if this is feasible well before valentines day.

Add a little Sparkly and bubbly:  Sip champagne.  If alcoholic beverages aren’t your cup of tea, sparkling grape juice or cider is just as nice.  Do pour them in your best glasses.

Dessert: Chocolate dipped strawberries go well with champagne and are a great complement to a valentines day meal.

Ambience

Make sure you add lots of flickering candles to bounce romantic shadows around the room.

With an inviting atmosphere, your favorite foods and the right music, you’re on your way to achieving the best romantic night in.  No crowds, no long lines, doesn’t that sound nice? picture sources are from here

What plans do you have for valentines day?
