That’s Pinterest-ing! Wallpaper or Paint?

What’s your preference? Both painting techniques and wallpaper designs have come a long way.  Do you prefer one over the other?

I personally love the ease and flexibility of using paint.  You can even create a textural look that mimics wallpaper.

Wallpaper on the other hand, has come a long way with limitless possibilites in style options, and for those who dislike a long term commitment, removable wallpaper is a new trend.

At the end of the day, I think to use both paint and wallpaper together and strategically is a winning combination; but that’s me, what about you?

Here are a few ideas to help you decide.

Pro Paint

When you want a focal point to “Take Center Stage”, a subtle  paint color in the background is a great option.source

Paint is easy to apply, easy to change and it can complement all decorating styles.

Paint is typically more affordable than wallpaper and your creativity can soar.

 Paint Cons

  • Matt or flat paints look great and minimize the look of wall imperfections, yet they’re often hard to clean. conversely,
  • Paints with a gloss or sheen, tend to show wall imperfections more easily.

Pro Wallpaper

Textured wall coverings are great for hiding imperfections

Wallpaper can transform a room and add a dramatic impact much better than paint can.

Wallpaper can introduce a more high end look to a space,  particularly when used strategically.

With the introduction of self adhesive removable wallpaper, it is becoming a viable alternative to paint.

With the advancement of technology, wallpaper designs can easily be customized for designer projects. wallpaper is now only limited by your imagination.source

Wallpaper Cons

Wallpaper still suffers an installation & removal nightmare from glue based products.

Wall coverings may be more durable in some cases; but it is much harder to repair and replace once damaged or dated.
