What are your Relaxing Essentials?  Do you have a favorite spot at home, where you can’t wait to retreat to, unwind and gather your thoughts?

If you answered yes, Is it relaxing?  Are your favorite go-to items within reach?  Or is it cluttered and in need of a Refresh?  Since downsizing is a smart choice for many these days, rooms are becoming more multi-purpose, so our favorite space just may be a small humble corner.

No matter where it is,  make it yours.  Make sure your personality is represented and that your favorite colors are evident in some way.

With so much of our lives moving at a rapid pace, It’s so important to stop and regroup as often as we can.

Why you say? Because life is short.  And no one can give you permission to treat yourself well but you.  After all, why do we work so hard?

I believe it’s so we can reward ourselves and also enjoy the fruit of our labor.  Otherwise we’re just a Gerbil on a tredmill going round and round and the next thing you know we’re checking out of here.

How do you feel at the end of the day?   What will it take for you to create your Relaxing space?

First decide what Essential items are needed for you to unwind.  Personally, I need a few things:

Comfy rug that I can sink my toes into

Nice water element for relaxing sounds

A cozy throw

Glass of red wine, cup of tea or coffee

Cozy fireplace or candles

Books and magazines

Jazz sounds playing in the background

Secondly, get yourself a good chair.  What’s a perfect nook if we can’t have a relaxing chair to sit in.  This can be a new purchase or an old comfy standby.  Some of the best chairs are old ones that are updated with a new fabric.

Here are a number of chairs both masculine and feminine that would be ideal for “chillin” and “relaxin”.  Which style is right for you?

I decided to create this sitting room with a little bit of glamour and a little bit of a rustic vibe.
I chose the French Country chaise and Chandelier first and went for rustic touches as accents.
Here’s the breakdown;:
The mirrors and table are made from reclaimed driftwood
The fabric was chosen for pillows
The paint colors will provide a  soothing background
The rug was chosen for the texture and to mimic the ocean.
Finally, I added wall sconces behind the chaise for mood and task lighting.
Overall we have a GlamouRustic vibe
