Color Fabulous: Ordinary Office Supplies Get a Colorful Update

by / Friday, 29 March 2013 / Published in Color Crush, INSPIRATION STATION

Each week we provide Color Fabulous tips that help you punctuate your surroundings. This week  humble office supplies get a burst of color using Duck tape and silk flowers.

We already know that the ubiquitous Duck Tape is used in very unusual ways.
It’s amazing how far Duck Tape has come from it’s military use during World War II, to fixing household repairs, and now for everything under the sun! including decorating!

I was perusing Michaels recently, in search of a project.  It was one of those times when I didn’t have a specific one in mind, but I hoped something on the shelves would inspire me.

All I can say is, you never know where your inspiration will come from.  Duck tape?  Really?
But I loved the Chevron pattern!   Remember the post i dedicated to it last year?
All I did was infuse a little color into my office with it.  Have a look.
I updated my Stapler

My Waste basket , Electric pencil sharpener, and a few Storage boxes

This chair was not this cute, just a few weeks ago.  If you missed the DIY tutorial, take a look at this post “A grey office chair gets a burst of yellow”I’m not usually a fan of silk flowers, but these are special.

My son made them for me.  The secret is, they’re actually pens!

He wrapped florist tape around the pen and flower stem to make them.

I love them because even in the winter, my office looks like Spring!   The vase  is a repurposed bottle (of cooking wine) wrapped in twine.

Do you have office supplies that could use a little update? If you have teenagers, they might love this idea too!
