Thanks for stopping by Lifestyle Monday. We cover a broad range of topics that just may enhance your life in some small way.
I recently discovered some amazing uses for unrefined virgin coconut oil and wanted to share them here with you…read on.
My mom is an amazing woman, who is passionate about healthy lifestyle choices.
Everytime she visits, she leaves us with a better solution for this or a wiser choice for that. I am blessed to have her in my life.
Well, during her last visit she suggested that I try Coconut oil as a healthier alternative to vegetable oil.
So I picked some up and discovered a crazy amount of uses for this fabulous product.
The first thing I did was scooped some into a container to use as a body moisturizer.
I rinsed and dried an empty jar of body cream from Bath and body works. Here are my top 10 favorite uses.
- Stir fry your favorite veggies with a tablespoon or two for incredible yumminess!
- Add it to your hair for moisture and shine
- Use it as a massage oil
- Try it as a body cream, especially if you have dry skin
- Use it as a facial scrub using (Baking soda and coconut oil or Cinnamon and oatmeal)
- Make Pop corn the old school way …learn how here
- Use it to replace vegetable oils in any recipe
- Slather it on your face as an intensive night time moisturizer
- Season your cast iron skillets
- Moisturize your cuticles
For a great hair treatment check out the recipe below (from delicious obsessions)Ingredients 2 tbsp. coconut oil 2 tbsp. raw honey 1 large egg yolk Instructions
1. If the coconut oil is solid, warm it over low heat until it melts.
2. Remove from the heat and whisk in the honey.
3. In a bowl, separate the egg yolk and white (or, you can use the whole egg if you prefer).
4. Gently whisk the egg yolk and then slowly add in the coconut oil and honey mixture. Whisk until thoroughly combined.
5. Apply to dry hair and massage into the hair and the scalp.
6. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave on as long as you can, even overnight if you’re willing.
7. When you’re ready to wash it out, rinse with warm water until everything is removed.
8. Dry and style as normal.
